Capuchin Mobile Ministries is a ministry of spiritual caregiving. Capuchin Mobile Ministries, a program of the Capuchin Franciscan friars of the Province of St. Mary, provides care to people living on the streets of Boston and Cambridge, Mass. Our work is chiefly a ministry of pastoral accompaniment.
The friars, chaplains, and volunteers conduct three outreach trips a week, on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. They make 7 stops in Boston and Cambridge and encounter 140 persons on average on every trip. The outreach van is stocked with coffee, hot cocoa, bottled water, lemonade, cereal bars, homemade sandwiches, some religious articles, and personal care items, including hygiene products, socks, and winter hats and gloves. Our volunteers distribute our emergency supplies to all the people who approach the van, while the friars and chaplains have pastoral conversations with anyone who needs support.
